Monthly Planning for April 2026
With my wife going back to work part time and me choosing to stay home that 10 hours with our son, we need to be disciplined and organized. As part of that we have monthly meetings now to discuss the calendar for the next month and what business items need to take priority in case we need to adjust the schedule at all.

To do this, we have our little man watched by Nana and we go on a lunch date. For March we headed to Copper State, a great location with great food and drinks, and owned/operated by such a wonderful family! We are big fans of everything about Copper State so why not share a lunch date there for some monthly planning!

Phone Jail????

Yes this is a thing and Copper State has implemented it, but from a place of grace. Copper State is a great place for drinks, food, and coffee and that's amazing but something that I know they pride themselves in is being a spot for connection. Using the items they sell as a bridge to connections for business meetings or with friends.

I was recently at Copper State about 5 times in two weeks (which was great haha) and I got to see the implementation of their new mission to help us all unplug and connect. Do you wanna be the one that picks up the bill? If so, grab your phone first. Willing to lock your phone up during a meal? You get a cookie! Simple, it's designed for us to disconnect for a hour or two, and then connect with the person or persons in front of us. I love this idea and I think more businesses should implement this; after all connection in community is what we were designed for and by having our phone out & up, distracting us, during discussions is one of the most rude and inconsiderate things I believe anyone can do. Give the person across from you a bit of your time, and you will grow as a person. Plus you never know what that person is going through and the value they put on that discussion, so lock up that phone or at the very least flip it over!!!

As far as the food and drinks go, they are still the same as they've always been; AMAZING!!! So I encourage you to go for a meal, even if you don't partake in the Phone Jails, because it's worth the visit. Plus you'd be supporting an absolutely amazing family that owns and operates this great spot!!

Annual Update - 2025
In the past week I've found myself here no less than 3 times haha. The food, drink, and atmosphere is all amazing at this spot and it's one of my favorites, but perhaps the biggest reason I support Copper State is because of the owners. They are a wonderful family, everyone simply good people, who I am grateful to call my friends.

And here is one fun thing about Copper State which I can promise has great food & coffee, and beer for sure, but where are my healthy eaters out there? This past year they eliminated the use of all seed oils and are now using tallow to cook instead. No negative impact on the food and it still tasts amazing for sure.

Copper State is my go to spot for coffee discussions, and lunches in downtown Green Bay, and one of my favorites in Northeast WI.

Latest Visit - July 2025
Well my wife & I had two friends call us up and say they were in town for a night and wanted to grab dinner. They told us it was our choice, and after a brief couple minutes of thinking where we could go we came up with Copper State. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is great, the owners are top-notch folks, and who doesn't love supporting a local buisness that checks all three of these boxes.

I enjoyed the Sizzlin' Sicilian with a side of the Mac & Cheese, and it was gone quite fast because I couldn't put the sandwich down. And my buddies burger followed suit. My wife got the Lucky Clucker with a side of Loaded Fries and in the background you can see what the final member of our party ordered, Bruschetta. We also shared a bowl of the Thai Brussel Sprouts as well before our meal.

But more importantly what we shared was good, quality conversation. We were there easily 2.5 hours just laughing, chatting, and sharing stories to catch up on life. Honestly, the atmosphere at Copper State is so good you find yourself not wanting to leave and the time flies by when you mix good conversation with amazing food. Oh and did you know they made the decision earlier this year to eliminate all seed oils from their food, so they are continuing to promote healthy living!!

Seriously, if you are looking for a tasty meal, with quality ingredients and a great atmosphere, you have to check out Copper State.

Recent Visit - March 2025
I have been to Copper State a lot since October 2023, when I first posted about it in this blog. But I'm terrible at taking photos or simply writing a paragraph about my experience after most visits. So that is why it's been almost 17 months since my last post :(

But I had to post today because I enjoyed a cup of coffee with a good friend and we shared some amazing conversation. We both work in different industries and hers was one I wanted to spend some more time learning about so I can be more educated in certain conversations. I don't plan to share what we chatted about but in our current political environment where so many people have very different opinions on many topics, I asked to pick her brain.

We sat down and I listened to understand her role and how certain choices being made by our current administration could impact her day to day life. It was fascinating to listen to and whether we agree or disagree I could care less, what I care about is having a good conversation with someone I respect, and who taught me a few things.

Thank you so much for the time today and for sharing a cup of coffee in the wonderful establishment that is Copper State!!

Connections are made and relationships are built over a meal! I am a strong believer of that statement but included in the category of "meals" would be coffee & beer. And if you're like me and enjoy having meetings in public establishments over a coffee or beer, I strongly encourage you to check out Copper State Brewery in downtown Green Bay. Why? You can have your morning meetings here over coffee, and your afternoon meetings here over a pint, basically it's the best of both worlds. But the atmosphere is also inviting if you need a spot to sit & work that isn't alone at home.

There are also plenty of days that I need a spot to sit, relax, and check off things on my To-Do List (it's the Achiever in me that never stops making lists). A perfect example is this beautiful Monday afternoon, it's 85 degrees outside and I'm sitting in a lounge chair enjoying an iced coffee while drafting this entry. The free Wi-Fi here is one of the best I've found in the area and thoroughly enjoy relaxing (I mean working) on blog posts. Yes, I find writing these entries to be relaxing, because it's easy to tell my story and talk about places I love.

Copper State has been a great spot for me to go for years, even before I became a realtor. The beer is delicious, they have great coffee, and oh my is the food top notch. When I think of the category of "gastro pub" I put Copper State as the top spot in Brown County for sure because of all three of these. My personal favorite meal is probably the Thailandia flatbread, but you can't go wrong with the Turkey Melt In My Mouth sandwich either. A Pub Pretzel is never a bad option and pairs great with any of their salads in my humble opinion. What's your favorite menu item, leave a comment, or invite me for lunch and I'll try your recommendation?

Just check out this photo of the bar, and if this doesn't look like a great spot to enjoy a meal and conversation then I challenge you to come check it out in person because trust me it's a great spot. I also know I'm not alone in thinking this because I consistently run into people here that I know. Why? Because they agree it's a great spot for a meeting, a meal, or simply a place to work for a few hours.

So I challenge you, come check out Copper State at the corner of Broadway and Dousman in downtown Green Bay, because you won't be disappointed.
